Beth Ditto range being launched July 9th!

OOooooh its very exciting!  Only a couple of days till the Beth Ditto collection is launched and I am thrilled that my local evans will be one of the stores with the collection.  According to info on the web the collection will feature 22 pieces, a good number of which you can see here...  I am loving the stained glass dress and the belt around it, there are a couple of other bits that I like but some pieces I really don't like...  However that said I am very much hoping that Beth's range may shake up the plus size clothing industry and gives it the kick up the arse it seriously needs.

Last week I went to a new H&M store which opened in Brighton, whilst I was happy to see more of their main women's wear collection which goes up to a 18/20, H&M's plus size range was hideous, it was nothing more than a variety of different coloured linen tents, it seems that the Big is Beautiful range is made by Millet's rather than an actual designer.

Oh well looking forward to Thursday!

Lots of New Plus Size Clothing to Check Out!!!

Whilst I've been slacking off, there have been a few small developments in the world of plus size fashion...

Firstly and finally I might add (!!!) Anna Scholz has got her own on-line shop - yay!  And whilst I certainly can't afford to buy any of her clothing (only her simplybe collection is in my price range!) its great now that her gorgeous stuff is so much easier to get hold of and see!  If money was no object I'd certainly be after this dress and this one too which is sadly sold out.

One area which plus size women seem to completely ignored is with vintage clothing, I often figured that this might be because that if things now are terrible for larger ladies to buy clothing, in the past it was ten times worse.  I've often thought that vintage will forever remain in the mitts of Kate Moss, but it would seem I am wrong.  I have discovered the Frockery who sell secondhand vintage and retro clothing.  Their range is not great, but at least they acknowledge that women over a size 16 might be interested in vintage clothing.

Shortly after discovering the Frockey, I came across Cuddlebunny on Etsy, who in addition to having the cutest alias on Etsy, she also sells some truly cool vintage clothing.   Just check out this coat and then this dress, I want them!!!  And she will do custom orders!  I can feel a spending spree coming in July...

I also want to give a little shout out for a fellow Brightonian, take a look at My Little Halo!  I first came across her stuff on ebay and then discovered her on-line shop, My Little Halo sells some great alternative stuff, my personal favourite is this dress, but there is loads of cute things on her site and shop.

And finally...  Well last year there was some talk of Beth Ditto designing a range of clothes for Evans, I never really believed it would happen, but it does seem that in July Evans will be launching a Beth Ditto collection.  I am both excited and fearful that I will be disappointed.  I have in the past not been complementary of Ms Ditto's fashion sense, however I do think that it is possible that somewhere between Beth Ditto's extreme taste in clothing and Evans tameness, that some great clothing may appear.  I certainly like the domino print top in the Evans ad, but I am a bit freaked out by the Beth Mannequin!

Just a quickie to say that Newlook's inspire range is now online!

Will be posting more soon about hypnotherapy (I am sugar free for 6 days now because of it), Kira Cochrane and poor, poor Fern and her gastric bypass surgery.  But really busy!

Etsy

I mentioned some time ago that I wanted to pay homage to the brilliant sellers on ebay and etsy who often sell far superior clothes to those you get on the high street.

In trying to collate a load of ebay sellers I came a bit unstuck, realising a list of ebay sellers would be difficult to maintain as many fluctuate in what and how often they sell...  Anyway I am gonna investigate and work on this a bit more.

Etsy though seems more of a sure thing, so I have created a new list to the right of this post and which I will update as I find more amazing plus size clothes shops on ebay.  However the problem with me creating this list, is that thee sellers i put in the list sell stuff that I very much like which means certain sellers/shops may get overlooked.  So if you know of an amazing shop on Etsy selling beautiful plus size goodness that I have completely missed/ignored, please send me a link!

And I am going to do a new regular piece called "Gimme that Now!" which will detail all of the clothes I am in love with each week as I scour my favourite websites.

Anyway enjoy the new linkage, Gimme that Now to follow.

So Not Fabulous

Today I received an email from littlewoods informing me that they had a new plus size range called so fabulous.

I excitedly looked at the site, only to discover it was the same shit range of stuff I'd seen when they had sent me a link to their spring/summer catalogue a couple of months ago.  The clothes look hideous, totally unfashionable and they seem to make the pretty model look unflattering wide with every single click.

What the f**k?

So ladies don't bother with littlewoods, unless you are looking for a sequin tent.

Neglected...

I recently noticed that so far I have neglected plus lingerie in my rantings and links here...

Of course lingerie too is subject to the same issues of plus size clothing here in the UK.  Its expensive and boring a lot of the time.

The reason it came to my attention was that I was contacted by the lovely people at Argoth, whose lingerie is certainly far from boring or being uber expensive.  And they have a fab range of corsets that co up to about a size 22 (40 inch waist can have a reduction down to 36 inches on average with a good corset and I absoutely love the cherry print corset - it is adorable!

So thanks to Argoth, I shall now be on the look out for other good sites offering plus size lingerie and corsets.

I hate this seasons clothes too...

Well yesterday I had loads to do as at present I am trying to sort stuff in my flat that I should have done ages ago (and because at the start of Feb I will have two weekends of visitors)...  However of course me being me also had a bit of time to check out the shops...  First off I went all the way to Hollingbury in the outskirts of Brighton to Matalan to buy a mop and bucket...  Before getting to the home section "I had to" walk through the ladies clothes, of which Matalan has loads!  Dull, boring, lacklustre is all I can say to summarise what I saw.  I spent more time "ooohing" and "aahhing" at plates and cups in the home section.  Its a shame really because the Matalan website looked quite promising...

I then went all the way to the other extreme of Brighton, to the Marina, just to recycle the mass of cardboard that has accrued in my flat and thought whilst I was there I would pop into Asda and check out the clothes too...  The George collection was equally soul destroying being one part boring and the other extremely hideous, for fuck's sake who would want to wear knitted polka dot cardi?  For some one who has worn plus size clothes for the majority of my life I can honestly say I've worn all the dots and curtains I can take.

I hope this initial taster I've had of the season is a blip.  If this year continues to be as bad as last year's clothes-wise, I'm going to form a group of assassins to take out all of the fashion designers in the world.

Some New Links

I've added a couple more links to the best of british section...

First is for Serenity Blue who sell beautiful tie dye and floaty tops and dresses all made from natural rayon.  They say on their site that they want their clothes to:

"to bring out the goddess in you"

And their clothes certainly do look goddess like - everything is colourful and pretty and plus size (up to size 24 and larger sizes are soon to follow).  Plus the tie dye options are very impressive.

And I have added Matalan to the list which I recently realised was quite a silly omission.  Although you can't buy online from the Matalan website, the Rogers & Rogers range they offer in their stores is usually quite extensive and cheap - yay for cheap plus size clothing!

Finally I thought I would just give a quick mention to Halloween...  I got an email from Big  Girl's Wardrobe the other day telling me that they have an extensive range of fancy dress costumes for Halloween in plus sizes.  The costumes are quite pricey (£40-45ish), but I suspect thats because they are imported, but if you want sexy costume, it will be worth the money - all the costumes a figure hugging and leave little to the imagination!

Simply Be

Last week I was very glad to see that my autumn/winter simply be catalogue had turned up, although you can look at the collection online, sometimes only a glossy catalogue will do…

Along with my catalogue was a tiny little guide introducing you to the models for simply be and particularly focussing on Crystal Renn who obviously is the most famous of them all.  But most interesting of all was that simply be also provided the models measurements.

I found it rather intriguing that all of them had a waist of about 30 inches and all were around a size 14 -16.  I am amazed that they all constitute 'plus size' but from their measurements they all seem so tiny (especially in comparsion to me) and normal.  They are normal women, yet they model plus size clothes.

Something feels wrong here!
